Race Day Confidence

Race season has started here in Texas, we had our first half ironman 10 days ago and it was a doozy. Winds that cancelled the swim for AG. The first 25 miles we had a fantastic tailwind and the second half had us holding on for dear life at times. Many of us persevered and made it through a bike that will be talked about for a long time and moved on to the run. The winds had picked up even more, causing water from the lake to blow up on the street in one part of course. This was definitely a memorable race for all of us.

Leading up to race week I was going over all the things that make me feel ready and less antsy on race day. Once I arrived in Little Elm and met a lot of people that were racing for there first time, I realized there are a lot of little things many of us veteran racers just do. So when I got home a put together a PDF of lots of things, and I admit probably not all of them, but enough that should help you feel more prepared on race day.

I hope to see you out at a race soon. I’ll be out at Galveston 70.3 this Sunday, after making sure my athletes are out of the water and on the bike I’ll be volunteering at run station #4, it’s right before transition.
